ADVOCACY 2021 UPDATES
UPDATE MARCH, 2021 HB 866 AND SB 1294, which would have restored adult dental benefits for Medicaid, failed to receive a hearing and are dead for this session. BILLS TO WATCH Restore Adult Dental Benefits for Medicaid (Support) SB 1294 (San Buenaventura): HMS, WAM Anti-Fluoridation (Oppose): Prohibits the introduction of fluoride to a public water system. Provides that any conflicting laws or rules are preempted. HB 118 (Hashem): HHH, CPC, FIN SB 360 (Gabbard): HTH, JDC TAKE ACTION: SIGN-ON TO TAX FAIRNESS LETTER BY 2/4 Join HIPHI and nearly 15 other organizations in a sign-on to a letter asking state legislators to support tax fairness proposals! Even if these are not normally areas you work in, we are at a kākou moment where it is necessary for us to come together in solidarity and support of our government workers, state programs, and critical services that are currently facing budget cuts and furloughs. BILL TRACKER Nearly 3,000 bills were introduced this session, so to make it easier we have created an online bill tracker for you. Click on the “Oral Health” tab at the bottom to see bills that may be of interest to the coalition. It is also available on our HIPHI policy page.
